Plastic Parsed

I used to marvel at what I saw as the insanely excessive use of plastic in Vietnam—and in Southeast Asia in general—but I now realize that it’s just a necessity.

The omnipresent threat of sudden rain demands a life flush with plastic bags and plastic sheeting. Basically, paper bags are as useless in Vietnam as beach towels in Antarctica.
