In the fall of 2013 I flew to Hanoi, Vietnam, and spent two weeks traveling with a good friend: riding motorcycles, avoiding Russians, eating and drinking, and trying to absorb as much culture as we could. When he returned to the States, I stuck around.

My plan was to find work teaching English or, ideally, find a gig pumping out copy for a local English-language publication. I didn’t know much about Vietnam other than that I liked the climate, had heard good things about the people, and didn’t have a problem eating food I couldn’t pronounce. This blog is an attempt to record and interpret my experiences, however long they might last.
